Conference Aston

Welcome to the JCS Conference 2018. We are delighted to announce our venue for this year is Conference Aston, Birmingham. Conference Aston is nestled in the heart of Aston University campus, providing the buzz of student life alongside the professional setting of a conference venue. Aston is a long established research-led university known for its world class teaching quality and strong links to industry, with 78% of its research rated as world leading and internationally excellent.


Aston University is in the heart of Birmingham, within walking distance of Birmingham Science Park Aston, and Millennium Point. Also, nearby is the Bullring Shopping Centre and St Philip's Cathedral. The Conference Centre is just a ten minute walk from Birmingham's three mainline rail stations: New Street, Snow Hill and Moor Street.

Did you know?

Aston University is home to Birmingham’s oldest working swimming pool originally constructed in 1902, it is a Grade II listed building, the historic pool has featured in the book Great Lengths by Dr Ian Gordon and Simon Inglis! The original cubicles have been retained as a historical feature of this listed building.

Getting there

By car

Junction 6, on the M6 is the closest motorway junction, being just 2 miles from the venue. For more comprehensive travel information please see this guide.

By bus

Multiple bus routes have stops at the Aston University Campus, find these here. Also the coach station is only a 20 minute walk from Conference Aston.

Electric vehicles

Electric charging points are conveniently located within the car park and outside the hotel.


Car parking has to be booked individually and JCS will not cover the costing. A link to the booking site can be found below, please make sure you do this as soon as possible to guarantee a space.

New Street, Snow Hill and Moor Street train stations are all within 10-15 minutes’ walk of the venue or a 5-minute taxi journey.

  • Be polite and avoid personal attacks on speakers or fellow delegates.
  • Keep criticism constructive.
  • Refrain from using recording devices during sessions without the permission of the speaker.
  • Where appropriate ensure you reference/attribute material to the speaker.
  • Observe copyright regulations.

WiFi Access

Free Wireless Internet access is available throughout Conference Aston. This is a specially setup, secure network for Conference Aston guests and requires a password to connect. Connection information and the password will be displayed frequently on the day and will be included in delegate packs.
