Arrival Instructions:
Cultural Care will provide transportation from the airport on Wednesday, January 10th and Thursday, January 11th and to the airport on Monday, January 15th. If you arriving or departing outside of these dates, you will be responsible for your own transportation and costs associated to this. We recommend using a Destination Management Company (DMC) to book your private transportation on your alternative days.
Resort package:
Your package will begin at 1:00pm on your arrival day and end at noon on your departure day.
The package includes: unlimited international premium liquors, wines, beer, bottle water, and soft drinks (unless otherwise stated on the menu); unlimited premium dining at the following restaurants: Fuego, Bana, The Grill, The Market, Hadar, Sunset Grill, Sunrise Grill, Gabi Club, Vento, Mole, and Naos. Passion has a $110 surcharge per person; 24 hour room service; in room mini bar, late night snacks, and wifi access throughout the property.
Currency:
US dollars are accepted at most tourist locations. Excursions and tips will be accepted in US dollars. However make sure to bring small bills since larger bills such as $20 will be difficult to break and may not be accepted.
Tips:
US dollars or Mexican pesos may be used inside and outside the resort when tipping. If ordering multiple drinks or food at the bars it is customary to tip the server. Cultural Care will not reimburse tips.
Culture:
A blend of Mexican and Mayan culture is still predominant in Playa del Carmen. A distinct kind of folk Catholicism is observed in the area. People in Playa del Carmen are also quite conservative. It is important to dress appropriately when going on tours to different sites, such as churches. Locals in Playa del Carmen also value their environment and actively promote the preservation of their natural treasures. Thus, it is important to abide by the rules and regulations set forth when visiting archaeological sites or when scuba diving in the reef areas.
Language:
Spanish is the official language however English is spoken widely across the country and most tourist areas.
Health:
There are no recommended vaccinations in order to travel to Mexcio. Pregnant women or those considering becoming pregnant should not travel to Mexico as Zika virus is a risk at a level 2.
Weather:
The weather in January is warm. The average temperature is in the mid-70s. Make sure to pack plenty of sunscreen, sunglasses and comfortable clothing and footwear.
Attire:
The resort is casual; however some of the restaurants may be more upscale. Make sure to check the Paradisus Playa del Carmen website for attire requirements if you plan dinner on your own. All Cultural Care dinner events are resort attire.
*Business casual is required for the Meeting of the Minds.
Food and beverage:
Meals and beverages are included at the resort. You will receive a wrist band upon check-in which will indicate you are a guest of the hotel and give you access to all the restaurants and activities. Cultural Care will be hosting group dinners throughout the weekend, so please be sure to check the agenda for nights where nothing is organized. You are welcome to call the hotel and make a reservation at one of the restaurants on property. We recommend you do this prior to arrival as most of the restaurants fill up fast. Most locations will only accommodate parties up to 10.

Travel insurance, seat upgrades, and advance seat selections will not be reimbursed by Cultural Care.
